PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: Dear Brothers and Sisters: I think that fall has finally arrived. The weather is beginning to change and before you know it the leaves will be changing their colors. What a wonderful time of the year. At our last meeting we initiated ten new members. The new members are: Elizabeth Martone, Donna Martone, Olivia Carmichael, Valentina Solomita, Giuseppe Graziosi, Nicholas Martone, Frangesco Russo, Danny Grella, Sergio Manno and Michael Grella. Welcome to our Lodge. On October 8th at 9:00 A.M. we will have our wreath laying ceremony in Mineola at the Columbus Statue in memory of our deceased members and our heritage. The Columbus Statue was created by Clemente Spampinato of Sea Cliff. The John Michael Marino Lodge and Loggia Glen Cove co-sponsored and funded the Columbus statue in 1964. The statue has recently been refurbished. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. On October 8th at 7:00 P.M. we will be having our Game Dinner at the Lodge. On Sunday October 9th, we will be marching in the Columbus Day Parade in Huntington. All new members are welcome to march. Wear your uniform if you have one. The bus to the marching site will leave at 9:15 A.M. from the Lodge. We will have a continental breakfast at the parade site. After the parade we will return to the Lodge for a collation. On October 23rd at 4:00 P.M. we will be having a Bocce Tournament at the Lodge). October 30th we will be ending culture month with a speaker at the Glen Cove Library. Dr.Fred Gardaphe will be the speaker. The title of his lecture is Moustache Pete is Dead: Italian American Oral Culture Preserved in Print. We will be coming back to the Lodge for coffee and dessert after the lecture. Don’t forget that our next meeting is on Wednesday, October 5th at 8 P.M. After the meeting we will have a light collation. We will be showing a video on the Italian American Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients. Sempre Avanti Fraternally, ![]() Angelo Grande President |
