PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

This is my last issue of La Voce. It has been a wonderful experience for me to have been president during such a historic period. On June 22, 2005 the Order Sons of Italy in America celebrated its 100th Anniversary and on May 2, 2005 Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016, Inc. celebrated its 85th Anniversary. To have been president of the oldest Lodge on Long Island has truly been an honor. During the past two years we have shared many wonderful experiences. Some of the things that stand out in my mind are the football wedding, the trips to the city, the Installation of the Phone Tree System, the display of the Wall of Presidents, the game dinner, receiving the Centennial Cities Award on behalf of the Lodge, receiving the Family of the Year Award and the wonderful gift from the Lodge at the state convention, the speakers, the picnics and the wonderful socials that we enjoyed together. It has been a great two years.

I would like to thank Sr. Ann Koch who has been kind enough to do the translation of the title page over the past two years. I would also like to thank the ladies in the kitchen, especially Srs. Rose Pascucci and Grace Stanco who helped prepare the wonderful collations we enjoyed after each meeting. Thank you also to all the committee people and the members who have supported me. You are the people who bring this Lodge forward. A special thank you to Br. Terry Tanzer, who has maintained our Web page. Most of all I would like to thank my wonderful wife Kathryn for helping me and guiding me during my presidency.

March is a very active month for us. In addition to our own Installation on March 1st, many of us will be going to installations at other Lodges.

On March 1st we will be having our Installation of Officers. Please get there early, parking is at a premium due to the construction across the street. Please bring a covered (meatless dish) for our installation.

On Saturday, March 11th we will be traveling into the city to see the play, The Most Happy Fella.

On Sunday, March 19th we will be marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Glen Cove. Meet us at the Lodge at 11:30 A.M. We will line-up at the Middle School at 12 Noon and the parade will begin at 1 P.M. Everyone is welcome to march. If you have a uniform, please wear it. After the parade, we will have our annual celebration to St. Joseph at 3 P.M. at the Lodge. We will be setting up an altar. Would you please bring a meatless covered dish (see attached flyer).

Our Bowling Party has been postponed until Sunday, March 26th due to the snow.

The dues for the year 2006 are already past due. Please use the invoice in LaVoce to send in your dues. You are only a member in good standing, when you pay your dues.

I have also attached a copy of our local scholarship application in this issue of LaVoce, which is due May 5th (see attached application). Don’t forget that I must receive state scholarship applications by March 31st.

On Sunday, April 30th we will have our Atlantic City Trip (see attached flyer for details).

The Wall of Presidents is up, but we are still waiting to receive 8 x 10 photographs of some of the Past Presidents. If you know someone, who is not active please let them know about the Wall of Presidents. You may call Sr. Kathryn Grande at 676-7436.
