PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

What a wonderful installation! It was a proud day for Loggia Glen Cove #1016.

I would like to thank all those who attended, as well as our State President Joseph DiTrapani, National Officers, State Officers, Lodge Presidents, visiting brothers, sisters, family and friends. A special thank you to the following dignitaries who were in attendance: New York State Senator, Carl Marcellino, Br. Thomas Suozzi, Nassau County Executive, Marianne Holzkamp, Mayor of the City of Glen Cove, Anthony Jimenez, Glen Cove City Councilman and Richard McCord, Glen Cove City Court Judge.

I want to thank you for the honor and privilege to serve you. I shall do my best to carry on in this leadership position that our past presidents did so well. Please give me your support. I cannot do it alone. We need the help of all the members to make this a successful Lodge. I will try to continue on with the traditions that have made our lodge what it is today.

I must congratulate our Immediate Past President Br. Tony Sclafani and thank him for all the work he has done over the past two years. You have brought in many new members, you have organized many social events and you undertook the renovation of the kitchen. I appreciate what you have done and hope you will continue to help support the Lodge. We still have to complete the Wall of Past Presidents.

The Installation would not have been the success It was without the delicious food that was prepared by our members. The other Lodges rave about our food. Thank you to all the people who helped in the kitchen: Sisters Rose Pascucci, Josephine DiSibio, Maria Lisena, Grace Stanco and Phyllis Cerullo and Br. Jim McAleer.

Golden Lion On March 14”’ we had our St. Joseph Day Celebration at the Lodge. We set up an altar for St. Joseph. Fr. Aaron from the Church of St. Rocco came to bless the bread. The bread was sold for a dollar a loaf. The money collected will be donated to the poor. St. Rocco’s bakery donated the bread. A special thank you to all the people who brought meatless dishes for the celebration. We ended the meal with St. Joseph Day pastries.

On March 21” the Lodge marched in the Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It was very cold, but a fine time was had by all. After the parade we went back to the Lodge for a collation.

Congratulations to our outgoing officers and welcome to our new officers for the year 2004-2005.

Loggia Glen Cove #1016 will be celebrating its 84th birthday on May 2nd. Next year our Lodge will celebrate our 85th Anniversary and the Grand Lodge will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary. Our National President Joe Sciame will be conducting the National Converntion in New York City next year.
Don’t forget! Our local scholarship application is enclosed.

We plan to have a wine tasting party at the April 7th meeting. Mark the date on your calendar.

I wish you and your families a Happy Palm Sunday and a Happy Easter.

Sempre Avanti!
Fraternally yours,
Angelo Grande
President
